In light of the recent election....

A word from one of Third's pastors, Corey Widmer...

"As your Pastor, I work hard not to make political statements or take political sides. I believe that one of my main callings is to help spiritually shepherd and disciple the people of God in the way of Jesus, so that you can make your own wise and Spirit-led decisions in your public life, including the way you vote.  But I must admit that I have been very heavy hearted and even grieved to see the way fellow believers have handled themselves both leading up to the election and even more so, in the wake of the election’s results. I’d like to offer some gentle reminders that hopefully can help us hold on to what is true in the coming days....keep reading here.

God’s Design for Sexuality in an Age of Confusion

Corey Widmer is facilitating a 5 week discussion on God’s Design for Sexuality, details below if you are interested.
Real Sex: God’s Design for Sexuality in an Age of ConfusionWednesdays, 6:30-7:30, Feb 15- March 14 2012 Teacher/Facilitator: Corey Widmer This five week course will look at how we can live faithful lives when it comes to our sexuality in the confused and over-sexualized society that we live in.  Each class will include some teaching followed by a lengthy time of questions and discussion. The class is appropriate for mature youth and adults. Child care is available.  Some of the topics we will look at include:

- What is God’s design for human sexuality?
- How do we deal with the immense sexual pressures all around us?
- How do you express your sexuality as a single or as a married person?
- What does the Bible actually say about homosexuality?
- Is same-sex attraction something to be “changed”?
- How can we care for our friends who deal with same-sex attraction?
So, what would community be? It would be a group of people who have engaged in this task – like throwing a ring in the mountain of Mordor. Think about community in terms of a fellowship and how Tolkien framed up fellowship. Fellowship was a task – they wanted to get something done.
